Candle Care
Candle care
A little care helps each candle burn more evenly and keeps the experience calm from first light to final glow.
First burn
On the first burn, allow the wax surface to melt evenly toward the edge of the vessel before extinguishing. This helps reduce tunnelling on later burns.
Wick trimming
- Trim the wick to around 5mm before each burn.
- Keep the wax pool free from matches, wick trimmings and debris.
- If the flame becomes too large or flickers heavily, extinguish the candle, let it cool, then trim the wick before relighting.
While burning
- Place the candle on a level, heat-resistant surface.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep away from children, pets, draughts and flammable materials.
- Do not move the candle while lit, while the wax is liquid, or while the vessel is hot.
- Avoid very long burns and follow any maximum burn-time guidance shown on the product label or packaging.
Extinguishing
- Use a snuffer if available, or blow out carefully.
- Let the wax reset and the vessel cool before handling.
- Stop using the candle when around 10mm of wax remains.
Storage and jar reuse
- Store candles upright, away from direct sunlight and heat.
- Once finished, clean out remaining wax carefully before reusing the amber glass jar for non-food storage.
- Do not reuse a candle jar for a new flame unless it has been designed and tested for that purpose.
